FOUREYES ON THIS WEEK #2

ALEX – We were invited to attend New Zealand’s first ever Dîner en Blanc last night and it was an unforgettable evening. Launched in Paris 25 years ago, the concept of a picnic in a public space where the location was kept a secret until the last minute and where all picnic goers must wear white, was one we could not wait to experience ourselves. We met at at the Sofitel, one of about five meeting spots around Auckland where thanks to G.H. Mumm, the official sponsor the event, we enjoyed some beautiful Champagne and cheese while we waited to hear more about the secret location of the dinner. Once we arrived at the venue, we were treated to a beautiful dinner, followed by sparklers, live entertainment and dancing. A simply amazing night. Check out our Instagram here for a couple more pictures.

CHIN – Dîner en Blanc was also a high for me this week. But Nespresso’s decadent launch party for their latest coffee machine called Inissia was a definite highlight too. The sweet station there, catered by Bluebells Cakery (the same Bluebells Cakery that supplied the treats at the launch party of our book last year), pretty much monopolised my attention that whole night. How can a sweet station be anyone’s highlight of the week? Well, it was for me. It was just that good.

On a related note, we’ll be posting about this night shortly along with a sweet little giveaway.

DANNY – These pretty things are now sitting in my hallway. Daydream by Matthew Browne and Oceanic print by Grethen Albrecht. A couple of us went to the Livable City Art Auction which was raising money for an Environment Court battle against Bunnings’ plans to put a big box development in the middle of one of Auckland’s heritage neighbourhoods (more on that here if you’re interested). We bid and we won. Something about buying art at an auction seems incredibly grown up, even though when I finally get the pieces they just lean against walls in my house because I don’t quite have the maturity level to actually hang artwork.

MINO – As I explained last week, I have been designing a collection of pieces for a collaboration with DANIEL K. This week we styled and shot the look book so I have attached a little sneak peek for you all below. This project has moved so fast and I can’t believe that pieces that I have designed will be walking down the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia in a matter of less than 2 weeks. This time next week we will be in Sydney and I’m sure my nerves will be running high!
